The 16 Days Campaign to End Violence Against Women

The Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Division at the College of Information Engineering, organized an awareness campaign to combat violence, with the participation of the Community Police. As part of the campaign, a seminar entitled “Women and Media: A Partnership to Combat Violence and Promote Community Awareness” was delivered.

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Information Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, in cooperation with the Community Police, organized this event within its programs aimed at supporting women’s rights and enhancing the role of media in reducing violence.

The seminar was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Ashour Kazem and Major Lara Fadhil Abdullah from the Community Police. The lecturers addressed several topics, including the role of media institutions in promoting a culture of women’s rights.

The seminar also discussed the challenges faced by women in the digital and media environments, ways to protect vulnerable groups from hate speech and electronic violence, and highlighted the role of the Community Police in monitoring and addressing cases of domestic violence.

The event witnessed wide attendance from faculty members and students, whose contributions enriched the discussion and emphasized the importance of building a professional and responsible media discourse. This seminar is part of a series of awareness activities organized by the college aimed at strengthening the university’s role in addressing social issues.
