Graduation Project: Design and Implementation of Smart Traffic Light by Ahmed Jawad

Ahmed Jawad, under the supervision of Asst. Lecturer Haider Majid from the Department of Systems Engineering, has completed a graduation project titled “Design and Implementation of Smart Traffic Light.”

This project presents an intelligent traffic control system that uses real-time data to dynamically adjust traffic signal timings. Unlike traditional systems that operate on fixed intervals, the smart system monitors vehicle density at intersections through sensors and adapts light durations accordingly. This helps to reduce congestion and improve overall traffic flow.

An important feature of the system is its ability to detect approaching emergency vehicles, such as ambulances or fire trucks. Upon detection, the system automatically gives priority by turning the signal green, allowing for faster and safer passage through intersections.

The project aims to enhance road safety, minimize delays, and offer a more efficient and responsive solution for urban traffic management.
