The Medical Bionic Arm, also known as the Bionic Arm, represents a significant advancement in robotics, particularly in the realm of prosthetics. This innovative technology is engineered to be controlled by muscle stimulation, a remarkable fusion of electronics, mechanics, and biomedical engineering. At its core, the Bionic Arm operates through the interpretation of EMG signals, generated by the contraction and relaxation of muscles, ensuring precise and coordinated movement.

Identifying the Challenge

As with any groundbreaking project, there are challenges to overcome. One of the primary issues addressed by the Medical Bionic Arm is the reduced dexterity experienced by individuals without both hands. This limitation hinders their ability to perform routine tasks with accuracy and efficiency, impacting various aspects of daily life. Moreover, the high cost and limited availability of traditional prosthetic solutions exacerbate the problem, creating barriers to accessibility. Additionally, social challenges, such as potential isolation and stereotypes, further compound the difficulties faced by individuals reliant on prosthetic technology.

Aim of the Project

In response to these challenges, the aim of the project is clear: to develop a simple, affordable solution that enhances the mobility and quality of life for individuals without both hands. By harnessing the power of electrical signals from muscles, the Medical Bionic Arm seeks to provide intuitive control and long-term comfort. This transformative invention is not just about creating a functional prosthetic; it’s about empowering individuals to regain independence and confidence in their daily activities. Ultimately, the goal is to bridge the gap between ability and disability, offering vital support and making everyday tasks more manageable.

This graduation project is the work of Mohammed Abdulsalam Almarza from the systems engineering department, supervised by Asst. Lect. Dr. Ali Ihsan Alanssari.
