The Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Information Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, under the supervision of the University’s Psychological Counseling Division and its units across the university’s colleges, organized an awareness seminar on enhancing awareness of the dangers of drugs that threaten community security. The seminar was held as part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week and was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Haider Ghazi and Lieutenant Colonel Malik Abd from the National Security Service.

The lecturers reviewed several key topics related to the reality of drug spread and the methods used by dealers to exploit vulnerable groups. They also provided a detailed explanation of the psychological and social effects caused by drug use and addiction. In addition, the seminar addressed the security measures taken to confront this phenomenon and the importance of cooperation between educational institutions and security agencies to reduce its risks.

The Psychological Counseling Division emphasized that the university places special importance on awareness and preventive efforts, considering students the primary foundation in facing societal challenges. The division pointed out the necessity of involving students in educational programs and supporting initiatives aimed at building a safe and healthy environment.

The seminar also witnessed positive interaction from students through the questions and contributions they presented, reflecting their interest in the topic and their desire to understand the methods that contribute to protecting society from this dangerous scourge.
