Scientific Seminar on the Internet of Things for a Sustainable Environment
The College of Information Engineering at Al-Nahrain University organized a scientific seminar titled “IoT for Sustainable Environment,” with the participation of a group of academics and researchers specializing in the fields of the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and their applications in supporting environmental sustainability.
The seminar included three main sessions. The first session, titled “From Connected Sensors to Embedded Intelligence: The Evolution of IoT,” was presented by Dr. Haider Abdul Hameed, who reviewed the stages of development of IoT technologies and the transition toward embedded intelligent systems.
The second session, titled “Edge AI: Applications and Design Flows,” was presented by Dr. Ayman Mohammed Hassan. It discussed the mechanisms for designing edge AI applications and their role in enhancing system efficiency and accelerating data processing.
The final session, titled “Towards Sustainable and Smart Cities of the Future,” was presented by Professor Rosdiadee Nordin, Associate Director of the Future Cities Research Institute (FCRI) at Sunway University (Malaysia) and Lancaster University (United Kingdom). He highlighted the role of integrating artificial intelligence with the Internet of Things in building smart and sustainable cities.
The seminar witnessed notable scientific engagement from the attendees through interventions and discussions that enriched the knowledge aspect and reinforced the importance of employing modern technologies to serve the environment and achieve sustainable development goals.
