Graduation project -Design and implementation of simple weather station system

Weather stations play a crucial role in collecting and analyzing weather data, which is essential for various fields such as agriculture, aviation, transportation, and industry. Recognizing the importance of accurate and accessible weather data.

Project Overview

The project, spearheaded by Abdul Lateef Mustafa Abdul Lateef from the Systems Engineering department under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ammar Ibrahim Majeed, focuses on the design and implementation of a budget-friendly weather station using an Arduino Uno microcontroller. This innovative system aims to gather fundamental weather data, including:

  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Wind speed
  • Wind direction

System Features

The collected weather data is displayed on an LCD screen for easy viewing. Additionally, there is an option to upload the data to the internet, making it accessible to a wider audience. This feature enhances the usability of the weather station, allowing real-time data sharing and analysis.

Applications

The data collected by this weather station can be utilized in numerous applications, including:

  • Agriculture: Helping farmers make informed decisions about planting, irrigation, and harvesting.
  • Aviation: Assisting pilots and airport operations with real-time weather updates for safe flights.
  • Transportation: Providing accurate weather information to optimize routes and ensure safety.
  • Industry: Enabling industries to plan and operate efficiently by anticipating weather-related impacts.
