The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Information Engineering organized a field awareness campaign and an online lecture on enrollment in literacy programs, titled “Literacy and Its Role in Achieving Sustainable Development”, on Thursday, September 23, 2025.

The campaign highlighted the general concept of illiteracy and also addressed functional illiteracy, defined as the inability to use basic skills in practical life. It discussed the main reasons behind the spread of illiteracy in remote areas, such as the distance of schools, weak infrastructure, shortage of teachers, and social traditions that hinder women’s education.

The lecture was delivered and supervised by:

  1. Asst. Director Jenan Kareem Najm – Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit

  2. Asst. Lecturer Mustafa Ali Abdul Kareem

  3. Asst. Lecturer Zaidon Tareq Ali
