College of Information Engineering Holds Introductory Seminar on DAAD Programs for Iraqi Researchers
The College of Information Engineering at Al-Nahrain University organized a scientific seminar titled: “DAAD Foundation Programs for Iraqi Researchers,” attended by Professor Dr. Hikmat Najm Abdullah, Dean of the College, his scientific and administrative vice-deans, and a group of faculty members and students.
The seminar aimed to highlight the opportunities offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), particularly in the areas of scholarships and research fellowships, and to encourage researchers and postgraduate students to benefit from these programs to enhance their academic paths and engage with global experiences.
The seminar included two key lectures: The first was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdullah from the College of Science – University of Baghdad, one of the researchers who benefited from DAAD fellowships. He shared his academic experience in Germany and how it contributed to the development of his research projects. The second lecture was presented by Ms. Joan Khalis, DAAD’s representative in Iraq, who provided a detailed explanation of the features of the programs, application procedures, admission requirements, and the targeted groups among Iraqi researchers.
Professor Dr. Hikmat Najm Abdullah emphasized that organizing such seminars aligns with the college’s approach to promoting academic openness and collaboration with reputable international institutions. He noted that DAAD is one of the world’s leading organizations in supporting higher education and scientific research. He also stressed the importance of encouraging students and researchers to take advantage of these initiatives to enhance their research capabilities and develop their international academic networks.
