In 2002, the prestigious College of Information Engineering (COIE) was founded, initially bearing the name "College of Information Technology," with a clear and ambitious vision: to ascend to the forefront of Information Technology institutes in Iraq.

By 2005, in a strategic move to embrace and reflect the rapidly accelerating integration of information technology and communications, the institution boldly rebranded itself, emerging as the "College of Information Engineering," a name that more accurately encapsulates its comprehensive expertise and innovative approach in these intertwined fields.
