on Sunday 24 June 2018, the M.Sc. Student Israa Ghazi Dakhil from the Department of Informations and Communications Engineering earned an M.Sc degree for her thesis (design and implementation of fingerprint recognition system).
The proposed fingerprint identification system has been implemented, tested and qualified with a set of fingerprint images gathered from 100 different persons with eight samples for each. An efficient image enhancement algorithm has been used to improve the clarity of the ridge structures in fingerprints. Besides, Core point and Candidate core points have been extracted as the base of the filterbank_based algorithm. Additionally two neural networks like KNN neural network and the Numeral Virtual Generalizing Random Access Memory Weightless Neural Network NVG_RAM_WNN; have been applied in the matching process. Accordingly, the matching results of both matching methods have been obtained and evaluated.
